Baking imitating Art?

I love tattoos, especially the traditional Japanese inspired ones. In the right hands the koi fish, waves, lotus flowers and blossoms seem to come together amazingly to make the most awe-inspiring body art.

I love these intricate designs so much I decided I would attempt a flood iced version. It took me several hours over three days with several different piping nozzles and a very steady hand. My hand was definitely ‘piping bag’ shape by the end of it all I can tell you!!

So here it is – my hand drawn, hand piped and flooded ‘Japanese tattoo’ inspired cookie slab.

I happened to be on holiday when I made this cookie so ‘borrowed’ the pool to photograph it. Not that you should put real fish in a pool, or any cookies that you plan to eat for that matter!

I’m absolutely loving playing around with flooded cookies right now so watch this space for plenty more coming soon…
